Laminated barcode labels
Whether you order 1,000 or 10,000 labels, you need to be able to trust the identification on your machines, products, components, computers, phones, racks, locations or cables will stay put for as you need it to. Choosing the right label material and adhesive as well as proper installation and use will guarantee you peace of mind. Equally important to the longevity of your labels is the whether or not you choose a laminate finish.
The benefits of a laminate finish
Our production team gives the majority of all pre-printed labels a laminate finish. A laminate not only provides your labels with a professional finished look, but it also protects your labels, thereby increasing their lifespan and readability. Adding a laminate finish to your labels provides resistance to:
- UV radiation.
- Scratches.
- Aggressive cleaning agents.
- Mechanical damage.
- Oils.
- Chemicals.
Why do we recommened laminated warehouse labels?
Our standard procedure is to finish your warehouse labels with a matte laminate. Our customers' experiences have taught us a glossy laminate causes too much glare under certain light sources and from extreme angles, preventing quick and proper scanning and delaying the order process.
A matt laminate, by contrast, reflects light from e.g. LED and fluorescent lights tubes in different directions, thereby eliminating glare and allowing for fast scanning. It also deepens and brightens the colours on your rack labels, making them more visible and easily recognisable for your operators.
Practical example of a matte vs. glossy laminate
In the photo you can clearly see the difference in readability between a rack label finished with a matt laminate (top) as opposed to a label finished with a glossy laminate (bottom). The information on the bottom label is completely blocked by the light source, while the barcode and text on the top label with the matte laminate finish can still be clearly read by both the human eye and the barcode scanner, under the same light source.
Custom laminates
If you want to order blank labels instead of pre-printed labels, you can add a protective laminate separately. The laminate will be die-cut in your desired format for you to apply it to your labels after printing. When it comes to laminates you have a choice of the following materials:
-
Polypropylene.
-
Polyester (glossy, matte, UV-resistant or chemical-resistant).
-
Polycarbonate (Lexan).
Laminate your own labels
If you are looking for an even more convenient solution, why not try our PALLabels. These Print And Laminate labels are available in both a blank and (partially) pre-printed version. Thanks to the construction of the label, you can easily apply a laminate finish straight after printing. Watch the video for a short demo.
