What is an asset tag?
An asset tag is your key to improved operational efficiency, clarity and structure within your company. This type of label is used to identify company assets such as computers, tools, vehicles or machinery. Each asset label, also known as a property label or inventory label, features a unique identifier, such as a serial number or QR code, which is used for registration, tracking, maintenance and asset management. Asset tags can be integrated with your ERP system or other warehouse management software to support efficient inventory and asset control.

Why use asset tag labels?
The short answer is asset identification. Asset tags link your physical assets to your digital asset or inventory management system. Asset labels are widely used across all types of industries, from manufacturing and construction to maintenance services, healthcare and the public sector. Proper labelling of machinery, products, vehicles and other business assets offers several key benefits:
- Your asset and inventory records remain accurate and up to date.
- Maintenance and repairs can be carried out faster and more efficiently.
- Reduced risk of theft, as each item can be traced.
- Improved structure within your organisation.
When working in construction, use asset tags to label machinery and tools so you won’t waste time searching for equipment. In the manufacturing industry, make sure to properly label machinery and link the data to maintenance planning. That way you know exactly when servicing or inspections are due. In office settings, property and inventory labels with QR codes make it easy to identify laptops, monitors and printers, showing where they are located and when replacement is required. An annual inventory check or stocktake is standard practice for most organisations. Using well-designed asset tags saves time and minimises the risk of errors.
Suitable label materials for asset tags
Asset tags are generally expected to have a long lifespan. We therefore recommend selecting a durable label material designed for long-term use. Most of our customers typically opt for polyester or vinyl materials for their asset labels.
Our polyester and vinyl materials can be printed in‑house using a thermal transfer printer and a suitable ribbon. Selecting the right combination of label material and ribbon is essential for long-term use and legibility of the printed data. Polyester
Polyester label materials perform well across a wide temperature range, adhere well to both rough and smooth surfaces, and offer excellent resistance to UV radiation and chemicals. Our product range includes multiple polyester options, such as polyester with an ultra‑strong adhesive, metallised finishes, and tamper‑evident properties.

Vinyl
Vinyl is a popular choice for asset tags that are used outdoors and required to withstand long‑term exposure to changing weather conditions. The material has a narrower temperature range than polyester but is highly flexible and therefore suitable for all surface types, from smooth and curved to rough and textured. Thanks to its extremely strong adhesive, vinyl asset labels adhere securely to the surface, even after years of use. Our vinyl material offers high UV resistance. The yellow variant can be used outdoors without risk of discolouration or fading.
If you need a tamper‑evident solution, we recommend our destructible vinyl label material. This material breaks apart upon removal, leaving behind residues of both the label and adhesive that clearly indicatie tampering or attempted fraud.
